SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) and DMC (Dough Molding Compound) are ready-to-mold composite materials made from polyester resin reinforced with glass fibers and fillers. SMC is a sheet-form material consisting of chopped glass fiber mats impregnated with a thickened polyester resin paste. It is stored in rolls and cut into required sizes before molding.
DMC, on the other hand, is a thick, dough-like material also made of resin, glass fiber, and additives. It is supplied inbulk form and used directly for molding.
